The football program at Daniel Hand High School has a long-standing tradition of excellence and has won numerous championships. This program has many rivals, including North Haven, Hillhouse, and Guilford. The basketball program is also very competitive and has a strong history of success. Both programs are members of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC), which oversees high school athletics in the state.
